Hai Pink Nerds,
So I know I haven't blogged for a while... I started a post about Sailor Moon and my other childhood memories but I haven't had the chance to finish it yet... I have tons of homework so I should barely even be posting this... Anyway, here's my trip in photos... I'll actually talk about the trip in some post later on...

Okay, so I really need to do homework; blech :(

Hey Hey Hey Pink Nerds,
So this post was inspired by Emma and Olivia's GIF posts. Some of the GIFs are stolen from them, some of them I made, and some of them I found online. Enjoy!

6 Month Bloggiversary

Hey Pink Nerds,
Like my friend Emma, (check out her blog at Inflatable Furniture and Bubble Wrap) I missed my 6 month bloggiversary by 3 days. I made this blog the same day as Emma did (November 12th 2011) but back then, it wasn't called 'Confessions of a Pink Nerdy Life'. Originally, it was just 'Happiness & Heartbreak', then I changed it to 'The Song of my Life' and finally I chose 'Confessions of a Pink Nerdy Life', the name I have stuck with for about 4 months. Thanks so much for all the pageviews guys! As I write this, I have 1, 881 pageviews discluding my own! My top post, 'Beauty Obsession with 1950's Hair' has received over 150 pageviews and I have readers from all around the world. Canada has been my main source of readers but over the months, the US has become a growing supporter. Also, a shout out to Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, Ukraine, Australia, the Philippines and anyone from anywhere reading this right now. I love you all!!! Also, I know that barely anyone has Google+ but I made a Google+ page for Confessions of a Pink Nerdy Life so PLEASE check it out at Confessions of a Pink Nerdy Life on Google+

Anyway, now for my special Bloggiversary post. I have a lot planned for this post but first, I'd like to share the most amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe. It is not mine unfortunately, it is from the Mrs.Fields Cookie Book but if you ask Olivia, Emma or anyone else who's had them (those are the ones I give you guys on Christmas) they will tell you that they are epic.

Blue-Ribbon Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:
21/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup salted butter, softened
2 large eggs
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2 cups (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips

Yield: 31/2 dozen

Directions:
-Preheat oven to 300* Fahrenheit
-In medium bowl, combine flour, soda and salt. Mix well with wire whisk. Set aside.
-In a large bowl with an electric mixer blend sugars at medium speed. Add butter and mix to form a grainy paste, scraping down the sides of the bowl. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix at medium speed until just blended. Do not overmix.
-Add the flour mixture and chocolate chips, and blend at low speed until just mixed. Do not overmix.
-Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake 22-24 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer cookies immediately to a cool surface with a spatula.

TADA! Now you have totally delish cookies to enjoy while you read the rest of this post :P

Okay, so next I want to share some of my very most favouritestestest songs...

My Favouritestestest Songs (Not REALLY in order...)
#1 All We Know - Paramore
#2 Bangarang - Skrillex
#3 Rumor Has It/Someone Like You - Glee Cast Version
#4 Turning Tables - Adele
#5 Reptile's Theme - Skrillex
#6 Stronger - Kelly Clarkson
#7 Teenagers - My Chemical Romance
#8 Candy Man - Glee Cast Version
#9 F(orget) You - Cee Lo Green
#10 Right On Time - Skrillex

Please look some of them up! I hope you like at least a few of them *crosses fingers*

Also, I'm really sorry to everyone who voted on the Talent Show Songs poll but I decided not to sing Turning Tables. They said you aren't likely to get in with solos so I'm probably going to do Rumour Has It/Someone Like You - Glee Cast Version with a bunch of girls from my school. Sorry! But PLEASE wish me luck :D

Okay, so now I have to go do the dreaded homework... blech :/

Luv Ya,
Meaghan ♥

Obsessions

Hey Pink Nerds,
So this year I have become totally obsessed with many things. I've blogged about clothing twice (especially dresses) so obviously that is one of my recent obsessions but there are multiple others. Therefore; today I'd like to talk about the rest of them.

ELLE Canada Magazine and ELLE Magazine US Edition
ELLE magazine (both the Canadian and American edition) are full of awesome fashion tips, photo shoots, celebrity interviews (not the gossipy type by the way!) and just articles about making your life be the best it can be. It is mostly a fashion magazine but it is much more relatable for the average American or Canadian. Each mag is filled with info and just totally awesome stuff so I can't explain it all but I'll show you some of my favourite covers.

1950's Advertisements
So as you all probably know, I've already blogged about 1950's hair (that post got ove 130 views!) but beauty and hair is not the only part of the 50's that I love. I love the advertisements from that period. The style of them is just so eye catching and my EMC instructor loves them too. (I'll talk more about EMC at the end of the week) Here are some of my favourite advertisements from the 50's. They're difficult to read but hopefully you'll get the idea. Also, you might notice that the ads mostly show women in them. That's because the men were all off at work and the women became the main buyers and shoppers for those household products. Enjoy!

Final Note
Okay, so I have tons more obsessions but those are some of my most recent obsessions and they are the one's that I am MAJORLY obsessed with. I've basically run out of time so thanks for reading Pink Nerds!

Talent Show Songs - Poll Closed

Hai Again,
Sorry for writing again but I forgot to include this in my last post. A while ago, I started a new poll on what song I should sing for the talent show. It is still on my blog so you can see the results but the voting is over. The winner is Turning Tables by Adele (I'm actually glad that one won!) Thank you to everyone who voted and wish me luck when the auditions come around!

EMCP at Carleton University

Hai Pink Nerds,
For those of you who don't know what EMCP stands for, it's Enrichment Mini Courses Program. This is a program that is provided at Carleton University, University of Ottawa and La Cité Collégière. Basically, students from grades 8-12 go to one of those university's for a week instead of attending their regular school. They take one university course designed for the EMCP from 9AM to 3PM every weekday for that whole week. My school reserved 25 spots in this program, I was chosen for one of those spots. Once you are chosen for a spot, you pick 10 courses you'd like to participate in. A machine goes through that list and gives you the highest ranking course on your list that still has a spot available. I got into my 4th choice. That course is called 'Picture This! The Secret Language of Images'

So obviously, the title doesn't give you the whole idea of the course. Here is the outline I got today at my orientation.

A picture may say a thousand words, but do you understand the language they speak? Images have a language of their own and when understood, can reveal coded information. In this course, we will examine a number of images in order to learn the language of pictures and then work to decode their meanings. What can art tell us about historical events? Do images always tell the truth How do advertisements influence the what we buy and ultimetly who we are? In this interactive environment, we will consider historical art, propaganda campaigns and contemperary media images and their multiple ciphered meanings. When you finish this course, you will have the ability to interpret the thousand words a picture says and understand the large number of images we encounter every day.

The course is heavily focused on propaganda and other hidden messages in both art historical images and contemparary media. Due to the imformation available and the specialties of the instructor,  this course will only focus on Europe and North America. This is a discussion based course and therefore student participation is highly encouraged. This is a supportive and open learning environment that accepts diverse opinions and perspectives. Creativity is also valued during the larger projects and activities. Finally students are inbited to think of their own personal topics of interest which may be added to the course. Previous open topic suggestions include: computer generated images, sptort in the media, the art of the instructor, graffiti, music video images, inkblots, the art of Van Gogh, racial profiling and much more. Open topics will be decided on Monday and announced on Tuesday.

Okay, so I'm pretty sure none of you read all of that but I thought I'de write it all anyway. I'm REALLY excited for EMCP! It starts tomorrow and I'm super psyched. My only concern is getting lost on campus but I'm sure I'll be fine. I'll probably write about my first day tomorrow.

Fashion Fashion Fashion

Dear Pink Nerds,
I finally came up with a topic; fashion. I've been really really obsessed with fashion and clothes and stuff ever since I subscribed to ELLE Canada magazine. I also just became a major fan of Forever 21, Bluenotes and multiple other stores. I am especially loving dresses so I'll share mostly dresses but some other clothing items too. I'll list the store, the price and the name. Hope you like them!

Forever 21
Forever 21 is definitely one of my favourite stores. The dresses are fabulous and totally wallet saving plus they're actually great quality and there are Forever 21 locations all over the US and Canada!
Cascading Chiffon Dress - $29.80
Polka Dot Bow Dress - $17.80
Cutout One Shoulder Dress - $21.80

 Asymmetrical Peplum Dress - $22.80
Sequined High-Low Dress - $34.80
Bow Back Dotted Dress - $11.50
 Blooming Bodycon Dress - $8.80
Asymmetrical Matelassé Dress - $19.80
Pointelle High-Low Sweater - $19.80
Stitches
I love Stitches' tops! I really like their cropped loose tees and of course, their graphic tees are amazing too! Unfortunately, like Bluenotes, Stitches website doesn't have as much of a selection. Here are my online faves.

Sweatpants - $10

Yoga Pants - $10

Destroyed Skinny Jean - $29.99

Crochet Back Print Top - $14.99

Wild Heart Cold Shoulder T - $9.95

Stripe Top - $9.95

Stripes Galore Top - $9.95

I hope you guys liked this post! Since my internet's so slow, it's taken me about 3 days to finish. The thing I really like about these items is that they're cute, decent quality and absolutely affordable.
Thanks for reading,
Meaghan ♥
