Summer 2012

Hey guys,
The last day of school finally caught up to me yesterday abd of course, I'm sad about it. However I won't let all the goodbyes ruin my summer. I feel like it's going to be a great one.

Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to a lot of friends going to different highschools. I'm going to miss them all so much but at the same time, I'm pretty sure those goodbyes will make the summer even better. It's going to be full of parties, swimming, sleepovers (minus the sleep), Disney movie marathons (Livi!), more swimming, camping, staying up late, sleeping in, biking, hiking, and just going with the flow. I can already feel the sumer sun peaking in through my window and I'm prepping my summer movies and playlists. The summer vibe is even making me give in to mainstream pop music! Allergen-Free Truffles

Alergen-Free Truffles  Making treats for friends and fam who have food allergies can be tough, especially when you have to take a couple of different allergies into consideration. Luckily, these truffles are gluten-free and penut-free. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

Recipe makes about 30 truffles

4 oz. dairy free dark chocolate

¼ cup rice milk

Optional: 1 teaspoon additional flavoring, like espresso powder or vanilla extract

For coatings: cocoa powder, colored sugar, sprinkles

Directions:

1. Melt chocolate, rice milk and any optional flavoring in a double boiler (that’s a heat-proof bowl set inside a saucepan containing boiling water). Stir until all ingredients are combined and smooth.

2. Remove bowl from double boiler, cover and refrigerate until firm.

3. Use a teaspoon to roll chocolate mixture into small, evenly sized balls.

4. Roll in desired coatings. For Valentine’s Day, we love heart-shaped sprinkles, pink and red colored sugar and classic cocoa powder.

Place your truffles in a large Tupperware box lined with festive cellophane, secure the lid and top with a note detailing the ingredients—just in case! Refrigerate when you’re now chowing down.

Best. Song. Ever.

Hai Pink Nerds,
So despite my terrible day I thought I'd post something that makes me happy. You'll only really understand this post if you watch How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) but either way I bet you'll find it funny. So basically, one of the main characters of the show, Robin Scherbatsky, is a news reporter in New York who is from Canada. Her friends knew nothing about her childhood in Canada, until that day... Her friend, Barney found a video of a girl names 'Robin Sparkles' and as he looks past the blonde hair dye, he realizes that this teen pop star... is his dear friend, Robin Scherbatsky! In the video, they do extreme stereotypes of Canadian teen stars. Enjoy!

The next video is also 'Robin Sparkles' but this one is a slower song also making fun of teen stars. Laugh away!

My final video is also from HIMYM but it's a different character. It's Barney and his obsession with suits. Basically he has to choose between a girl and suits and so he bursts out singing this song. TADA!

Sailor Moon and Other Childhood Memories

Hey Pink Nerds,
Yesterday, my brother, my dad and I were at Jumbo Video waiting for my grandparents to meet us for dinner. As I was searching through the racks for Mean Girls, something amazing caught my eye; Sailor Moon DVDs! Of course, I watched all of them as soon as I got home and tons of childhood memories came running through my mind. I remember when my mom made me a Sailor Moon costume for Halloween in senior kindergarten and smiling proudly as I wore it. I remember how angry my mom was and how sad I was when I lost parts of the costume. I remember all the hours I would spend watching Sailor Moon at my grandparents house. I remember the first time my mom bought me a Sailor Moon VHS and how I jumped around the room full of excitement. I remember seeing a Sailor Moon gameboy advance game at EB Games, and I remember how sad I was when the girl in front of me bought it. A lot of my childhood revolved around Sailor Moon. If you ask my mom, I was only really obsessed with 2 things; The Lion King and Sailor Moon. I watched The Lion King about twice everyday and I was always asking for anything that had anything to do with Sailor Moon. Also, I had and still have my Lion King blanket and all of the pieces to my Sailor Moon puzzle (amazing. right!?) Those of you who know me fairly well, you're probably surprised that I wasn't obsessed with Hello Kitty when I was younger since I am now. Well, I did like Hello Kitty but not as much. I was only exposed to Hello Kitty when I went into chinatown with my grandparents so I paid more attention to Sailor Moon (that is until they cancelled the show years later...) Anyway, so Sailor Moon was basically my childhood so I thought I should dedicate a post to the show.
