Hey Pink Nerds,
So every year at my school, I look forward to the talent show. That's why when they said they were doing an awful musical instead of the talent show, I was really annoyed. Unfortunetly for the musical participants, the musical was just canceled. That's right, they are doing the talent show again! So, I need suggestions on songs to sing. I'll put up a poll on the right of my blog and if you have any other suggestions, feel free to comment them!

Disney Classics
Hey Pink Nerds,
I am so happy right now! My blog post Beauty Obsession with 1950's Hair has just reached 101 page views, me and my friends are doing the 30 Hour Famine on Friday and, I just bought a bunch of Disney classics on VHS for 25 cents (that's right, I still have my VHS player!)

Walt Disney's Pocahontas
I was never a huge fan of Pocahontas but I watched it yesterday and she has become one of my favourite Disney princesses. Thank you to Olivia for forcing me to buy it; I love it!
Walt Disney's Aladdin
Again, Aladdin was never one of my favourite Disney movies but when we started to play music from Aladdin in band and we watched the movie, I started watching it over and over. I'm so glad it was still there when I got to the book sale!
Walt Disney's Snow White
Skin white as snow, hair black as night, Snow White will always be one of the most beloved Disney classics. It is a fairly old Disney classic but just as good as any. I was even Snow White for Halloween in grade 3!
Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid
Ariel was definitely one of my favourite Disney princesses as a kid. When I was in JK, my mom even made me a mermaid costume and bought me a long red wig so that I could be Ariel for Halloween. Gosh did I ever love that costume! She may not be my favourite Disney princess anymore but I'll never stop watching The Little Mermaid.
Walt Disney's Cinderella
From rags to riches, Cinderella shows us that dreams really can come true. Sure, no one really has a fairy god mother but with a little bit of help, anyone can accomplish almost anything. Cinderella may never have had a place in my heart but I do love the little mice! And never forget, Bippity Boppity Boo!
Walt Disney's Beauty and the Beast
A down to earth beautiful girl named Belle finds herself choosing between family and freedom. When she gives her freedom up for her father's freedom, she ends up stuck with a hideous beast but somehow, they found love in such a hopeless place. Oh my, opposites really do attract!
So I bought all those movies and many more but I don't have time to explain them all. Afterall, I am in the middle of watching them all for the 4th time in a row! Olivia, Emma, we just must have a Disney movie marathon sometime soon! Plus Olivia can bring HSM and I'll bring HSM 2 and HSM 3.
Luv ya Pink Nerds,
Meaghan ♥

Quarter Quell
Dear Pink Nerds,
For those of you who don't know, Quarter Quell is a term that comes from The Hunger Games and it represents a very special Hunger Game. The 25th annual Hunger Games. The 50th is the Second Quarter Quell, the 70th is the Third Quarter Quell and so on. If Quarter Quell refered to blogs too, this is my First Quarter Quell; that is right, this is my 25th blog post! I honestly can't think of much to talk about but I do know of one thing I'd like to talk about; The 30 Hour Famine.
This year, my friends and I are doing World Vision's 30 Hour Famine. We don't think it's right that THOUSANDS of kids die from hunger, poverty and injustice everyday. So we're doing something about it.
My friends and I are going without food for 30 hours on Friday April 27th and Saturday April 28th to raise money for children around the world.
My goal is to raise at least $100 to help these kids and to try and make a difference. All you have to do to help is click here to donate.
Now I'm done talking but I'd like to share some of my favourite pictures! Hope you like them c:
I'll write again soon!

Grease Was the Word
Dear Pink Nerds,
Grease has been the best part of my year and I haven't even blogged about it yet! I figured since it's been two weeks since the final show, I should finally write a post about it. Unfortunetly, I am not in any of the pictures above but they are all from the show. I hope you enjoy the pics, the post and that someday, you will have the chance to either see a youth production as good as KYMTC's or that maybe, you'll be lucky enough to be cast in a musical too!
The Expirience
As many of you know, this year I was cast in KYMTC's 2011 production of Grease. This meant four long months of learning the choreography, learning the songs, listening to the leads memorize their lines, listening to Barb (our director)'s numerous comments of advice of straight out rehearsing. These were some of the most difficult months of my life but they were also the most fun and the ones that would bring happiness right out of me. Yes, I would constantly complain to Natasha saying "Ugh... I'm so tired! Need sleep..." but the sleep deprivation and the months of work were totally worth it. I had the time of my life and I cannot wait until next year!
The Production Level
So obviously, the expirience was amazing but what about the production itself? Well I haven't seen the show from beggining to end yet since the dvd isn't ready but I think the production was pretty good. According to my brother, the actual production level wasn't as good as last year's The Music Man but it was still good for a youth company. Obviously Grease is known better than The Music Man so we had much larger audiences and everyone was familiar with the songs, scenes and jokes so they all laughed their heads off and cheered at the tops of their lungs therefore, the cast had a lot more energy. Last year, Barb didn't say we had a show untill the third performance but this year, even our opening night was a hit.
The Cast
When someone asks me about the cast for KYMTC's Grease, the first word that comes to mind is 'Perfect'. I don't want to release any names online so I'll just go by the names of their characters. Danny is such a perfect choice; he can pull of the tough guy attitude but deep down, he's still a nice guy. He's an amazing actor and a fantastic singer too and I'm so happy he was cast! Sandy is a stunning singer. I have never heard someone with such and amazing range that isn't already famous. I swear, someday I am going to see her on Broadway. Next, I'd like to point out Rizzo. She put on a fabulous almost New York accent and acted like such a mean person but in real life, her personality is just kind and totally un-judgemental. The rest of the cast is obviously wonderful too but I can't describe each cast memeber! There is, however, one group I'd like to point out; the girl band. These five girls have voices like you've never heard and they all have their own unique sound. One of them has a soft, sweet voice, another girl's is very jazzy, the next girl's voice is difficult to explain; you can almost hear the attitude in her voice, the other girl's voice is a very strong voice with almost a country vibe and the last girl's voice is just absolutely breath-taking. She can belt out the highest notes without running out of breath at all and she is only in grade 9! Anyway, I'm sure you don't want to hear about all thirty-something cast memebers so I'll move on.
Backstage Crew, Producer, Director, Costume Design, Choreography and even more!
Oh my gosh, there are just so many people who contributed to this play! Of course there's our director, our producer, or costume designer, our choreography and their husbands who were at the theatre day & night. They planned, made props, sets and costumes, and they gave us all kinds of tips on how to improve our show. If these guys weren't there, we would never have been able to put on this show. But even more people contributed; our marvelous backstage crew. The backstage crew were wonderful to be around but during the show, we barely saw them at all! The most we saw of them during a production was their feet shuffling around and them dashing to change enormous sets in less than 10 seconds. I don't know how they did it, but they did an amazing job.
Okay, I can't write anymore! I'm going to miss the cast & crew so much and I hope to see as many of them as possible next year! Thank you for taking the time to read this long post!
Bai Bai Pink Nerds,
Meaghan ♥

Happiness Takes Effort
Dear Pink Nerds,
What is happiness? I believe that there are only two types of happiness and only one of them is real. The first type is a short-term happiness whose only power is to make you smile a little bit. This can come from someone saying "You're really pretty!" or even if the guy you like smiles at you. This happiness isn't necessarily bad, but it doesn't last. If that boy smiles at you and then he turns right away because his friends snickered, that happiness just vanishes. This is a nice type of happiness to have every once in a while but just because someone says you're pretty doesn't mean that they are a quality friend that will always be there for you. Quality friends help you feel the second kind of happiness.
The second type of happiness is a little bit more complicated. I can't really explain it but I hope you'll know what I mean. If you accomplish something that is seemingly impossible, you are bound to feel that happiness. After all, by accomplishing the impossible, you've just learned that you are capable of amazing things. This type of happiness is much better than the first type but it takes a whole lot more effort. In order to experience this happiness you must accomplish something and in order to do that, you must be focused, respectful, responsible, strong, and totally dedicated. Whatever you want to accomplish is up to you, but the end result depends on if you followed all the requirements above. I know I might sound really confusing right now so I'll give you an example; The Julie/Julia Project which has become a major motion picture called Julie & Julia. Julie Powell was completely depressed with her life and so, she decided to accomplish the impossible. Julie Powell cooked her way through Julia Child's Mastering the art of French Cooking in a single year. That's 524 recipes in 365 days. And guess what? Julie Powell finished it and she found utter bliss. The happiness that Julie found was the second kind and it would take a world-wide disaster for her happiness to disappear. When you find that second type of happiness, it is like no one can hurt you. No one can ever bring you down or take that happiness away from you.
If you have never felt that second kind of happiness and you want to, stop doing whatever you are and turn yourself around to follow a different path. I've felt true happiness very few times and the only recent time was Grease. That was because I worked my butt off for four months and gave it 100% focus and determination. I am so thankful that I have experienced that second kind of happiness but I've realized I haven't helped anyone else feel that happiness. Therefore, I am stopping, and turning around to follow a new road. I have been blessed with amazing friends and it's time that I return the favor.
With all my heart, thank you.
